Commercial Driver – Class 01

Prepare to enter the transportation field! Companies are searching for trained employees with a positive attitude, safety awareness, and good driving skills. Our aim is to prepare students to enter this industry. Students will gain practical driving experience coupled with in class learning in a small group environment. Students will receive training in urban and rural driving, defensive driving techniques, coupling and uncoupling, preventative maintenance, safe backing techniques.

Students will also receive training in:

• Air Brake Endorsement with adjustment (9a) • Pre-Trip Inspections • Transportation of Dangerous Goods
• Route Planning • Professional Driver Improvement Course • Power Line Hazards • WHMIS and more!

Successful graduates will receive a Class 01, 03, and a Class 9-A.

Please note, that a student who successfully receives a class 01 license is automatically certified for Class 03 (tandem) vehicles.

• Valid Class 05 license. Two years from date of road test.
• Recent driver’s abstract showing no more than 4 demerit points
• Grade 12 or equivalent, or mature student status
• Class 1 medical (copies available from the school)

Career Opportunities

The jobs available in the commercial driver industry are dynamic and varied. Drivers may decide to choose their industry and employment based on their personal goals and objectives. There are many different types of trucking jobs including: long haul; owner-operator; regional; local; dedicated; reefer; or team driving. Someone who holds a class 01 license is also certified for class 03 vehicles, increasing job opportunities.
